MetaLAN reports "There is no installation or an incomplete installation of VNC" when McAfee Antivirus with DAT 5386 is installed.  The antivirus software incorrectly identifies the "LOGMESSAGES.DLL" VNC file as containing "Generic.dx Trojan". The Antivirus software may then delete or quarantine the file and therefore disable VNC in MetaLAN and cause the error message to be displayed.

Please see https://knowledge.mcafee.com/article/789/616819_f.SAL_Public.html

Also, MetaLAN will not be able to push VNC to computers that have this antivirus configuration because the antivirus software will block VNC on the target computer.

To fix this problem:

  1. This is confirmed to be fixed in DAT 5387 download here : http://www.mcafee.com/apps/downloads/security_updates/dat.asp?region=us&segment=enterprise
  2. MetaLAN must be reinstalled to replace the deleted file. Install over the top of the current installation. All settings will be retained.
